Hello, my dears ~
Whew! In so many conversations right now, strong opinions and sharp words feel close at hand. When I slow down, I notice the judgments in me, too, and I get curious about what they might be pointing toward.
Judgement doesn’t have to be the enemy.
It can be a portal—a clue that something important is stirring inside.
When I catch myself thinking, “I should have figured this out by now,” what I really need is self-compassion and permission to be right where I am. When the thought comes, “I’m not doing enough,” it’s usually my heart longing to contribute, to offer more of myself in service. And when I hear myself say, “I should be further along by now,” the truth beneath is my longing for patience, acceptance, and trust in divine timing.
By their nature, judgements narrow our view, but they also point like arrows straight toward the values or needs that want attention.
And if that’s true for me, what might it mean for us collectively? Imagine if the judgement-arrows we aim at one another – the “they shoulds” and “you nevers” – were understood as signals of deeper needs and values trying to surface. Collective strife starts in the small wars we carry inside. When we tend to them with care, we grow the clarity and steadiness needed to meet the world with more understanding, not more hurt.
Each space we open inside ourselves widens the path
for understanding, love, and peace to grow in the world around us.
Our words create our world. And when our words carry not the judgment on the surface but rather the need or value underneath, they give us breathing room – the ultimate space of allowing! From there, the world itself can become our classroom, always inviting us to notice, to learn, and to practice what matters most.
